BEST SSD LAPTOP RECOMMENDATIONS
– TIME TO UPGRADE YOUR LAPTOP SSD GAME

The increasing power of technology has made us accustomed to nearly instant gratification. The speed of our devices is one of the most important qualities we look for.

No one wants to wait forever for that application to open up, we want to look at that file now! So, to help speed things along with your laptop, you’ll definitely want to consider an SSD, or solid state drive.

SSDs don’t rely on moving parts or magnetic media to store data, unlike HDDs or hard disk drives. They can access stored data much more quickly than HDD.

So that one program that always takes forever to load on your current HDD computer? It will load much faster on a new laptop with a SSD installed. Boot times when you start your computer up are also greatly improved by SSD.

If it’s so much better than HDD, why do we even still have HDDs at all? Well, SSDs are much more expensive, and generally have much less storage space.

You can go out and get a 1TB SSD for a pretty penny, or you can get twice the space for a fraction of the price on a HDD. It all depends on your priorities.

That being said, there’s plenty of other options out there to offset the smaller storage space of SSD, and still let you get the better speeds.

For now, we’ll take a look at some of the best SSD laptops on the market. Later, we’ll go into ways you can supplement your SSD for those larger files.

The Acer Aspire E 15 easily tops the list of affordable laptops with SSD. We suggest this SSD laptop for those seeking an affordable Ultrabook that still packs a punch. This laptop is perfect for buyers on a budget!

Just one of the many Acer laptops with SSD that made our list, this one will not disappoint. It is the very best of our low-priced recommendations, so it’ll be tough to find a better deal out there.

You should also know that this SSD laptop does not have an anti-glare display, so you will have to keep this in mind when working on brightly lit days.

ASUS ZenBook Ultra-Slim

Best Laptop with SSD (Top 12)

8th Gen Intel Quad Core i5 – 8GB Ram – 256GB SSD – 13.3″ Full HD – Gold Version

ASUS’s Zenbook 13 Ultra-Slim SSD laptop is a nice and compact personal computer. It’s very lightweight, only 2.5lbs! Plus it’s thin, and because of its 13.3” display not at all bulky.

This is a great general use laptop for someone who prioritizes portability. We have also highlighted this laptop in our breakdown of the best laptops for writers!

The Zenbook 13 has a 256GB SSD. That’s pretty decent, especially for a SSD laptop at this price point.

You can easily supplement this storage with external USB drives, networked storage devices, or cloud storage. Still, 256GB is probably enough for anyone’s essentials, unless they work with large amounts of high quality video.

This laptop has a 13.3” display that supports full HD with 1920×1080 resolution. So you’ll get full 1080p. Because this is a compact laptop, it doesn’t have a number pad.

However, the keyboard is backlit which is a great feature, especially for writers. It also has a fingerprint reader for added security.

The Zenbook 13 has an 8th generation Intel i5 CPU. This speedy processor will complement the SSD really well. It has 8GB of RAM. You can easily upgrade to 16GB if you want to give your laptop an extra boost.

Unfortunately it uses an integrated GPU. This will mostly only affect its gaming abilities. You’ll be able to play some games, but expect to use low graphical settings.

In terms of connectivity the Zenbook 13 has a lot of options for you. It has three USB 3.0 ports, as well as one USB 3.1 Type-C port. Plus it has a built-in SD card reader, which is pretty nice. It also has an HDMI port. Of course it also has the standard headphone and mic jacks. Plus a built-in webcam.

All in all, the Zenbook 13 is a great SSD laptop. It has plenty of features, and good hardware. The price point is more than reasonable for everything you’re getting, too. However, if compactness and portability aren’t at the top of your list, we have other laptops for you to check out.

Dell Inspiron

Best Laptops with SSD (Top 12)
7th Gen Intel Core i7 – 8GB Ram – 128GB SSD – 15.6 Full HD

This Inspiron gaming laptop by Dell is a pretty great option for gamers looking for a more affordable SSD gaming machine. It has a really nice, understated design and a metal chassis. The red accents on the Dell logo, trackpad, and speakers give it some serious style.

While this Inspiron does have an SSD, it only has 128GB of storage. It’s not really a problem at all, though. They’ve also included a 1TB HDD.

You can be choosey about the things you store on the SSD for the faster load times. You’ll definitely want your OS partition on the SSD to take advantage of the faster boot times.

Beyond that, you still have 1TB of internal storage for all your games, and any other media. It’s not really worth keeping your games stored on SSD. It will only affect the time it takes the game to launch.

Unlike most laptops, this Inspiron has a dedicated graphics card. With the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 4GB you’ll be able to play basically any game on high settings.

Plus with its 7th generation Intel i7 quad core CPU it’s pretty powerful. It’s not quite VR ready, but it’s still a respectable gaming machine.

With a 15.6” full HD display you’ll be able to enjoy every bit of that dedicated graphics card. It supports full 1080p at a 1920×1080 resolution.

Plus, thanks to the sizeable display they were able to include a number pad with the backlit keyboard. Number pads are one of those little, quality of life features we always love to see.

While it only comes with 8GB of RAM, that’s fine for most purposes. For gaming we really recommend upgrading to at least 16GB. This laptop does support up to 32GB though.

If you’re upgrading you might as well take it all the way, right? If this sounds like a hassle and turn off for you, don’t worry.

RAM upgrades are generally affordable and really easy to do. It’s practically plug and play. The five minutes it takes to upgrade the RAM will be absolutely worth it once you see the results.

For connectivity, this Dell Inspiron has what you need. It has three USB 3.0 ports, to start. It also has an HDMI port. Plus it has an SD card reader built in, which is always nice.

It also has an ethernet port to boost your online gaming. And of course it has the standard headphone/mic jack.

If you’re looking for a gaming laptop with SSD at a reasonable price, this is a great option. It has additional internal storage already built in, so you won’t have to worry about lack of storage. Overall, a great laptop.

Acer Aspire VX

Best Laptops with SSD (Top 12)
7th Gen Intel Core i7 – 16GB Ram – 256GB SSD – 15.6 Full HD IPS – Gaming

The Aspire VX 15 by Acer is a solid gaming laptop with an SSD. It has that look you know to expect from computers aimed at gamers, red accents and all. Admittedly, the brushed metal does look really nice. This is definitely a laptop that stands out.

It has a 256GB SSD. While they don’t include any additional storage, the do offer a complimentary HDD upgrade kit if you contact Acer support. We highly recommend you take them up on this offer if you get this laptop.

The kit includes a 2.5” caddy and SATA cable. You will have to purchase the HDD separately, but you can get at least 1TB for really cheap.

It’s a little extra work, but at least they offer the upgrade kit. If you’re really against upgrading it yourself, see our other options for working with low storage at the end of this article.

The Aspire VX 15 has a 7th generation Intel i7 processor that reaches speeds of up to 3.8GHz. It has a dedicated graphics card: the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 Ti 4GB.

This is a great graphics card and will let you play on medium to ultra settings depending on the games you play. And you’ll enjoy every pixel of those beautiful graphics with the Aspire VX 15’s 1080p 15.6” display.

This laptop isn’t huge, but it’s big enough they were able to include a number pad on the back-lit keyboard. Two features we seriously love to see, so that’s awesome.

Speaking of the keyboard, we appreciate the red accented WASD keys. Great little touch catering to gamers.

It comes with 16GB of RAM which is really nice. It supports up to 32GB of RAM if you want to upgrade. We tend to think if you can upgrade the RAM you might as well. It’s affordable, quick, and easy to install.

For peripherals, gaming or otherwise, the Aspire VX 15 has lots of options. It has one USB 2.0 port, three USB 3.0 ports, and one USB 3.1 Type-C port. While it doesn’t have an optical drive, you don’t really need one.

It also has an HDMI port, as well as an Ethernet port. Plus a built-in SD card reader. And of course it has your standard headphone/mic jack. It also has a webcam.

In general this is a really nice gaming laptop. It’s a great price, too. If you’re willing to spend a couple extra bucks and a lazy afternoon upgrading this with the HDD kit (might as well upgrade the RAM too while you’ve got it open) you can elevate it to the next level.

Acer Aspire R

Best SSD Laptops (Top 12)
7th Gen Intel Core i7 – 12GB Ram – 256GB SSD – 15.6 Full HD – Touchscreen 2-in-1

Acer’s Aspire R 15 is a great 2-in-1 convertible laptop and tablet. It has a great brushed aluminum style chassis. Honestly, it looks pretty sleek overall. A nice classy looking laptop.

The Aspire R 15 has a 256GB SSD. This isn’t a ton of space, but it’s fairly typical for SSD laptops, especially at this price point. Still, it’s enough storage to get you by with whatever files are essential. For the rest check out our supplemental storage options at the end of this article.

With a 7th generation Intel i7 processor and dedicated graphics card (NVIDIA GeForce 940MX 2GB) you’re getting a fairly powerful laptop.

While it does have a dedicated graphics card, it’s not really designed for top quality gaming. You’ll still be able to play plenty of games if you want, but don’t expect to be running anything on ultra settings.

For things like Netflix and other video streaming you’ll enjoy full 1080p HD. In addition to the nice CPU this laptop also comes with 12GB of RAM.

It’s worth noting that the RAM in this laptop is not upgradeable. So if you absolutely need more than 12GB of RAM you won’t be able to get it with this laptop. To be fair, you probably don’t need more than 12GB of RAM on a laptop like this though.

The Aspire R 15 being a convertible laptop and tablet, of course you know you’re getting a touch screen. The 15.6” touch display is really nice.

It displays a beautiful, crisp picture at 1920×1080 resolution. The convertible style of this laptop is really versatile. We love all the different ways you can place or use it.

We found the “tent mode” to be especially great. The hinges are great and feel very sturdy. We also would like to mention the number pad and backlighting on the keyboard. Plus, it has a fingerprint scanner so you can easily unlock the system with a touch.

For connectivity the Aspire R 15 offers you one USB 2.0 port, two USB 3.0 ports, and one USB 3.1 Type-C port. It also has an HDMI port. Plus, it has a built in SD card reader, which is a nice little bonus. And of course it has your standard headphone/mic jack.

What it all boils down to is a solid convertible 2-in-1 laptop and tablet. You won’t find comparable specs at this price. There really aren’t many reasons to pass on this device. If you really need a top notch gaming laptop or something else, check out our other SSD laptop options.

Lenovo Flex 5

Best SSD Laptops (Top 12)
8th Gen Intel Core i5 – 8GB Ram – 256GB SSD – 15.6 Full HD – Touchscreen 2-in-1

The Lenovo Flex 5 2-in-1 laptop tablet combo is another high priced suggestion of ours here at Net Geek Pro. And you’ll hear this from many more users than just us – it’s everything you could ever want in a convertible laptop.

Feel free to bend and shape the SSD laptop in a total of four unique ways. Whether you set it up as a normal laptop, a tablet, a tent-like shape or completely flat – the choice is yours.

People tend to love the tablet and tent-like setup when they use the touchscreen. And of course, most prefer the laptop setup when typing with the keyboard.

Though, users say it is surely a laptop first and foremost. They say it’s the format that provides the best overall experience from a user’s viewpoint.

So if you’re looking for laptops with SSD drives that offer better tablet format functionality, we have something else for you. Simply scroll back up the page and check out our Acer Aspire R 15 suggestion above.

Between the convertibility factor and the fact that this laptop is semi-lightweight makes it perfect to take with you on the go.

It’s actually said to be considered light for its size, but not in a way that makes it feel cheap. Also, you can’t go wrong when it comes to the graphics and speed of this SSD laptop. Especially with the SSD, this laptop runs like a charm.

And it starts up even faster. Just keep in mind that you won’t be able to upgrade the RAM on this model. Although, 8 GB holds up well for most purposes. Even users running multiple applications still love this SSD laptop.

Some users comment on the location of the Shift key being slightly unusual in its placement. Though you will quickly adapt to it being a little further over than it was on your current or old laptop. Really, you just need to give your pinky a little stretch to reach it.

Either way, the finger print scanner and backlit keyboard make up for the unusual Shift key. This laptop model has a fingerprint scanner for easy login and a backlit keyboard for your convenience if you opt to work in dimly lit areas.

Apple Macbook Air

Best SSD Laptops (Top 12)
Intel Dual Core i5 – 4GB Ram – 128GB SSD – 11.6″ Glossy Display
As always, we could never make a list of the top SSD laptops without including a MacBook or two.

It just wouldn’t be fair to all of the Mac lovers out there! So of our two Apple options that made the cut, we’ve got the Air up first.

Even though it has one of the largest SSDs on the list, it also has one of the smallest screen sizes too! At a mere 11.6 inch screen, this MacBook Air is very compact.

Although, that does make it very easy to take with you on your travels. Even if you commute to and from work or school via public transit, you can easily whip this out and get some work done.

What better way to use that time? Or maybe you’re browsing the web or preparing for a meeting, this is all that you need.

It’s even rumored among users that this specific model is becoming harder to get your hands on. Lucky for you, we’ve got a deal locked in place for you to get yours here! Don’t miss your opportunity to get your hands on one!

Apple Macbook Pro

Best SSD Laptops (Top 12)
Intel Core i7 – 16GB Ram – 256GB SSD – 15.4″ Retina Backlit Iris Pro Display

If there’s a top SSD laptop list with a MacBook Air on it, then it just wouldn’t be complete without some advice for buying a MacBook Pro too.

Why, you ask? The MacBook is a more lightweight version of the Pro. Which is great – but it doesn’t work for all power users. Hence, we have given you our top pick for a MacBook Pro too.

Converting PC users by the minute, this MacBook Pro has it all. From its Retina Display to the classic sleek, yet solid shell of an Apple laptop. You’ll have never seen such a vivid viewing experience compared to the graphics on this SSD laptop.

The MacBook Pros tend to be a power user’s first choice when it comes to Apple laptops. Although, the Air suggestion above gives this one a good run for its money. Plus you should note that the RAM and SSD is not upgradable in this specific model.

Keep in mind that this model also comes with a slightly larger screen than our previous suggestion. Though it is still very lightweight weighing only about a pound and a half. Feel free to take it with you. Plus the battery will last through an entire day of working too!

As always, you’ve got to get used to the Mac keyboards if you haven’t already been using one. Especially for PC users making the switch over – you will most certainly notice this.

Don’t worry though, as with any new keyboard, you’ll get used to it in no time. Before you know it, it’ll be weird going back to your old keyboard since you’ve gotten so used to the new one.

There are other details of this SSD laptop that are not to be missed. For example, the laptop automatically turns on when you open the lid.

This way, your power button will last a little longer some of us may have experienced with past models. It’s all the little things that count.

ASUS Zenbook Flip

Best SSD Laptops (Top 12)
Intel i7 Quad Core – 16GB Ram – 512GB SSD – 14″ Wide-View Full HD Nano Edge

This is some of the best value you’ll find for your money in the laptop market right now. Our previous Lenovo ThinkPad option is similar, although, the ZenBook has a larger screen size and SSD.

In fact, the high performance SSD will help you shave time off the length it takes to do various tasks. It really is the perfect SSD laptop for practical everyday use.

For those of us guilty of leaving what seems like a million tabs open all the time, you no longer need to worry about it slowing down your machine. Many happy users have already commented on this laptop being able to handle these busy browsers.

Even for advanced purposes, users have said this is a solid laptop for coding. It doesn’t get too hot and cools down quickly for those of us power users out there.

So now you don’t have to worry about your laptop getting too hot and turning off in the middle of what you’re doing.

Just like some of the other options on this list, the ZenBook Flip is another great laptop SSD for the road.

Again, its screen size being at the smaller end of the spectrum and trusty battery life makes it great for this. Not to mention that it’s also a laptop tablet hybrid which is pretty much the cherry on top.

Lenovo Yoga Ultrabook

Best SSD Laptops (Top 12)
8th Gen Intel i5 Quare Core – 8GB Ram – 256GB SSD – 13.3 Full High Definition Touchscreen 2-in-1

Even though it’s the lowest priced option on our list of the best SSD laptops, the Lenovo Yoga is one of the best routes you could go.

Not only is it more affordable, it’s also a 2-in-1 laptop tablet combo (convertible), is more compact than other models and still boasts similar specs. Namely its 8 GB of RAM and solid state drive are the pair you need to run all the apps you could ever want to.

On the note of the solid state drive, you will likely want to seek out alternative storage solutions to add to the 128 GB it comes with.

You’ll either need an external hard drive or a cloud storage solution. Both are readily available at decent prices so you shouldn’t let that hold you back from this laptop SSD.

Really, it’s a benefit if anything – think about it. You’ll be forced to get into the habit of backing your files up. It’s better to be safe than sorry, right?

If you’re still not sure, just refer back to the section where we discuss the trade off between choosing laptops with SSD drives versus ones with old school hard drives.

So what else does it come with?

It all comes down to this. This Lenovo SSD laptop boasts the trusted quality of a classic Yoga device. That means you can count on it to hold up well over time. There’s a reason why it’s such a classic computer in the workforce.

Beyond that, it’s also said to be a great work laptop to use on the road. This mainly comes down to its compact nature and lengthy battery life.

You just have to remember not to leave your laptop charging once it’s reached 100% if you wish to preserve the battery life. This isn’t something you want to forget too often – or at all!

The Lenovo Yoga even comes with a backlit keyboard so you’ll never have to struggle to see your keyboard in the dark. You can literally work anywhere as it will easily fit in any bag you have and will work even in the darkest areas.

ALTERNATIVE OPTIONS TO EXPANDING THE STORAGE ON YOUR LAPTOP SSD

There has never been a better time to expand the initial storage of your devices. You can do so very easily with very little investment.
